  • Consider budget alternatives if: your crop has low light requirements, you have the skills to evaluate fixture specs critically, and you can absorb the risk of downtime or replacement.

I still kick myself for that budget fixture order in 2023. If I'd spent a little more upfront, the energy savings and reduced downtime would have covered the difference by now. But I also know budget lights work fine for some growers. It's about matching the tool to the job, not buying a status symbol.

Do your own calculations, get three quotes, and check the return policy before you sign. That's the part I can't repeat enough.
